Mona sat down with Adlai Wertman, Professor and Founding Director of the Brittingham Social Enterprise Lab at the University of Southern California to talk about the latest in social entrepreneurship. Chrysalis is an organization he founded in LA that helps people experiencing homelessness get and keep a job. Clients learn the social skills of working and build a resume while working for the company, and 90% of clients experience success with getting a job outside of Chrysalis after one year. Their discussion follows the rise of social entrepreneurship in both the nonprofit and for profit industries, the importance of companies’ ESG scores, and the increased risk associated with a low ESG score.
